Working as a market executive with Rs 5,000 monthly salary, Diya Mirza began her professional career at the tender age of 16. When a picture of her appeared in Femina, she was egged on to participate in Miss India contest and she walked away with three awards—Miss Beautiful Smile, Sony Viewer’s Choice Award and Femina Miss Asia-Pacific. Later on in Manila, she won the title Miss Asia pacific, 2000, second Indian to get the honor.









Born to a German father and Bengali mother, Diya Mirza was brought up by her mother’s second husband Ahmed Mirza after death of her first husband when Diya was only six years of age. Her first appearance in Hindi film Rehana Hai Tere Dil Mein , was a flop, but she immediately got noticed. The next film, Tumko Na Bhoola Payenge did some business, but her 2003 first film Dum was a winner.

Diya’s Special Appearance in Kyun! Ho Gaya Na in 2004 did justice to her talent. The same year appeared Tumse Nahin Dekha and Stop, which were not so successful. But Diya’s acting was superb in both the films. In 2005, were released as many as five films. Those were Blackmail, My Brother Nikhil., Huna Hai Tere Dil Mein, Naam Gum Jayega, Koi Mere Dil Me Hain, Parineeta and Dus. Dia Mirza reached the sky in 2005 with a number of hits.

Blackmail earned a fair amount of money. But her name reached every household in the Bengali writer Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel based film Parineeta. It was a super duper. Dus is a thriller with Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan and Sunil Shetty in male foils. Diya acted in parallel strength in the film, which is again a success story. It is all about the Indian Intelligence’s strength in countering terrorist gang’s subversive activities, Diya will remember 2006 for several of her hit films Those include Lage Raho Munna Bhai and Phir Hera Pheri. Shootout at Lokhandwala, although an action film, was a major hit for 2007.
