It is an undeniable fact that majority of her films has been able to bring critical appreciation rather than commercial success. However it has been perceived that this has not been able to break her morale and she has emerged as one of the top and most versatile actresses from the industry.Kareena Kapoor attended the Jamnabai Narsee School in Mumbai and then went to the Welham Girls Boarding School in Dehradun. It was followed by her moving to Harvard for summer school where she took a course in microcomputers and information technology for three months. Set on pursuing an acting career, she then took an admission in Government Law College at Churchgate to become a lawyer.
After completing one year there, she went back to her initial plan of joining the film industry where she attended the Kishore Namit Kapoor acting school.she made her debut in J.P. Dutta's Reafugee against Abshishek Baccahn in 2000 and won laurels from the Indian audience along with critical acclaim for her effective portraying of the role of a Pakistani gir earning her an award for the Filmfare Best Debut (Female).
In 2001 in the Films like Ajnabee and Asoka though did not do well in the box offcie, for the later movie Asoka where she made her memorable presence in the role of a princess that earned for a lot of apprection from the film critics earning her a Filmfare nomination for Best Actress. Through her later performnaces in the films like Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham she became able to establish herself as one of the industry's most bankable stars and put her on Bollywood's A-list.
It was the year 2004, when she got a breakthrough in her career in terms of qualitative performance through acting in the film Chameli where she played the role of the protagonist, in the role of a prostitute that compelled the serious audience and the film world to watch her with rapt attention and again earned for her the Filmfare Special Performance Award.
She is at present involved in the film industry but has become by and large choosy over the characters to be played in the films by giving due consideration and devoting a lot of time so as to enhance and excel through each film.
