Series like Sunset Beach and Nash Bridges. Kelly Hu also played a key role in the series Martial Law in 1998; but it went off the air after its second season. She also appeared as a guest star in shows like Growing Pains and Melrose Place. Hu’s other films included Cradle 2 the Grave (2003) and the X-Men sequel X2.

Descending from an interesting blend of Chinese, English and Hawaiian ancestry, Kelly Hu herself blends beauty and strength as well. Winner of more than one beauty contest (she was adjudged Miss Hawaii USA in 1993), she is also the proud holder of a black belt in karate. In a brave move, she moved to stage and performed in the play Vagina Monologues in Honolulu, her hometown in May 2003. Hu said although nervous at the beginning, she thoroughly enjoyed performing in front of a live audience. In January 2007, she began appearing in a TV series named In Case of Emergency. She is also in the independent film, Americanese, directed by Eric Byler.

Not yet tying the nuptial knot, Hu is the co-owner of a restaurant, Basic Bites at Brentwood, Los Angeles. Her name once got romantically linked with Ahmad Ali Moussau, an investment banker. The grapevine has it that Hu is dating SR-71 frontman Mitch Allan at present. She is a member of CAUSE USA, an organization that encourages all Asian Americans like her to take part in the democratic process.
