It was due to her elegance in the film ‘Devdas’ that it earned a special screening at the year's (2002-2003) Cannes Film Festival and created history in the box-office records both in India and the United States. On 20 April, 2007 she married the Bollywood celebrity Abhishek Bachchan, son of the first family of the Indian movie industry and the son of the actor duo, the legendary Amitabh Bacchan and Jaya Bhaduri, the veteran actress.
