I think I heard the song Stand & Deliver at Joe's house on some music channel and then decided to download a greatest hits type album. I had never even heard of Adam Ant until Natalie's 21st. I love his look, the whole military look really does interest me. And the idea of a Dandy Highway Man is just amazing. Everything about the music is so glamorous and camp and I can't help but love it.
I haven't gotten round to getting anything other than The Suburbs yet, and I am a little wary because I'm worried it might ruin the band for me. I think what I love most is just how simple it all sounds, but if you listen carefully, there is so much to each song. They have such a full sound without it being overcrowded. I do have to admit that most of the band look like sex offenders and they are so over hyped at the moment.
Favourite Songs: Ready To Start, We Used To Wait.
Avril Lavigne
Rediscovery. This one is a bit of a guilty pleasure, and in all fairness, it's only the first two albums. What can I say? She writes a nice little pop song and there are some really good acoustic songs as well. I remember buying 'Let Go' ages ago but then it disappeared and I forgot all about it. Joe reintroduced me and I'm really enjoying it! I am such an embarrassment.
Favourite Songs: Things I'll Never Say, Slipped Away.
The Beatles
I had never really properly bothered with The Beatles before. I just always thought they were too overrated and wasn't at all interested. After being pestered by Rob for a while, I decided to get the Red & Blue albums and I've been quite enjoying them. There aren't really any stand out moments and it's pretty good but I don't understand why they are considered the best band ever. I appreciate for the time, they were cutting edge, but that isn't relevant now.
Favourite Songs: Eleanor Rigby, A Day In The Life.
Blood Red Shoes
I don't know how I had never listened to this band before. They are simply amazing. I saw the video for Heartsink and wrote down the name but never looked it up, then I heard Toby listening to the same song and he said it was BRS. I've been regularly listening to them since. Again, such simples songs but so good. I love how well the vocals go together.
Favourite Songs: Heartsink, I Wish I Was Someone Better.
Chapters, The Clik Clik, Perfect People & The Midnight Beast
Basically anything by Stefan Abingdon. That guy is a bloody genius! He's a pretty good vocalist too. All in all, I think I have a pretty much totally acceptable man crush on him! The Clik Clik are probably my favourite of his bands though. One of Chapters' EPs is for free download on their blog and the Perfect People EP is free as well! I'd highly recommend listening to them!
Favourite Songs: Sticks & Stones, My Dunks, Tip Toes, Lez Be Friends.
Perfect People EP (It's legal, don't worry):

Fightstar
Mike has been showing me songs almost every time we hang out and I had been meaning to get some for ages but never got round to it. It's a little heavier than what I listen to more recently but it's so well written and Charlie 'From Busted' Simpson is a really good lyricist and vocalist. I think they're a very unjustly criticised band, purely because their lead singer used to be in a pop band.
Favourite Songs: Mono, Palahnuik's Laughter.
I Blame Coco
Sting's Daughter's band. I Blame Coco supported La Roux when Dan and I saw them in Bourney-Mouth. I've been listened very consistently since although their debut album, The Constant, wasn't as good as the demos I found. I think they have a lot of potential and they seemed to start getting quite a bit of recognition after we saw them!
Favourite Songs: Caesar, The Constant.
Kasabian
I had never liked Kasabian until this year. Shoot The Runner was an undeniably good song but it annoyed me when he said "Bitch" because it seemed unnecessary. I think what really annoyed me about Kasabian was the song 'Fire', which I still skip to this day. But I no longer avoid Kasabian, I entirely embrace them. Sergio Pizzorno is such a hero as well. Best Dressed Man 2010, anybody?!
Favourite Songs: Shoot The Runner, Fast Fuse.
The Klaxons
I had heard a couple of songs but never known who they were by. Joe showed me the song that has the classic school keyboard "DJ" used and it was amazing so I got the album without any hesitation. Admittedly I haven't exactly shown it the attention it deserves but I will do. I have no time for Echoes though. That chorus is so bloody annoying.
Favourite Songs: Atlantis To Interzone, Totem On The Timeline.
